Name: Arian
Age: 17
Appearance:
Personality: Usually Arian appears to be calm and collected. He might be found joking, laughing and acting fairly carefree too. He does not have any psychotic hatreds or stuff and would not get bloodthirsty or furious without a really good reason, like a lost friend. Minor violence and anything not too extreme or brutal would be treated as fun. He does however have a kind of sense of honor or maybe even justice, befitting a pirate. And even in a fight he would treat his opponents with respect, if they deserve it. That would be even more apparent towards girl, on who he would at least go easy, as a gentleman not wanting to hurt them. That however does not mean he would not defend himself if attacked by a female, although that depends on who is attacking and what would be the result if he did not defend.
Arian is interested in anything supernatural, yet finds beauty in nature as well. His sense of beauty is fairly standard but refined - he enjoys good drinks and food, nice weather, pretty women, music, good view, sometimes he would find a certain fighting style beautiful. But he does not consider power to be beauty and if he finds someone to be disgusting he would likely be to dislike their powers as well. He likes ancient arts and old things, but is not of conservative beliefs, rather thinks that knowledge is power and old ways need to be studied and learned from to develop new ways, but not be stuck in, which results in stagnation and loss of ability to adapt which in turn always leads to death in nature. He likes to apply law of nature to social patterns and compare them, considering everything and all things are natural, including creations of human.
History: Arian was born on an island of Parnassus, where ancient arts were extensively studied. Parnassus had three major cities - Theracia, Kalilia and capital Quealia. Theracia is where the boy was born, the city had the greatest markets in the whole Kingdom, making it also the second richest. Arian's family had a prestigious standing, owning a herb and medical drug business. As it was a law, by King's orders promising kids would be invited into the royal academy of ancient arts and magic in Quealia. It did not take long for the boy's talent in that area to be revealed and King's summon cannot be rejected just like that. And so at the age of 6 Arian was forced to leave his family and the friends he grew with and join the most famous and prestigious school in the whole kingdom. How he felt about it? He felt honored, elevated and just goddamn great. The academy was actually right next to the royal palace, in the center of Quealia, because it was sponsored by the King who was actually convinced he would find secret of immortality in magic. The academy served to study for that goal as well as prepare noble wizards for his court and officers for his army.
Our little student of the ancient arts spent better part of his young years in that school, he was extremely talented and at the age of 13 his name had reached the King's ear. After that everything just started to go better and better. He was given a certain military rank, invited into the royal court as well as got a certain position in the academy all despite his young years. The peak and the beginning of his fall was at the age of 15. At that time he had pretty much uncovered that immortality is impossible without extreme side effects which would make you no longer human. And due to his personality and beliefs, such immortality was not true immortality they pursued. His opinions and arguments however did not persuade his colleagues and a word that they finally uncovered the immortality was sent to the King. Little did he know that this was all a plot by one of the colleagues who he had grown to calling a friend, a man named T'ath. The procedure was not even formulated correctly, and as Arian was against the concept altogether, his warnings were not heeded, but rather dismissed as biased and such, his age did not help him either. During the procedure the King died a horrible death. At least after that the research into immortality was labeled a taboo and never persued in the academy of ancient arts and magic again. Only one thing good came from Arian's attempts to prevent that - they could not blame him, even if he was originally head of the research in that area. Regardless, King's death was the goal, not Arian's. As soon as the King died, the court fractured into different factions, some supporting different heirs of the King, others trying to promote different kind of leadership, while others just trying to gain power. T'ath's faction was just that, he tried to use the chaos and confusion caused by the King's death to rise in power, even seize the throne. The conflicts did not calm down over time, but actually escalated into a civil war. About one third of the royal army was under Arian's command, supporting the rightful heir of the King. About as much followed T'ath and the rest were divided between other smaller factions. Being as much proficient in arts of magic T'ath was very efficient in gaining trust of other leaders, deceiving them and taking their troops. The war raged for two years. During this time, Arian's home was lost to the rebels, his family murdered as traitors. This made the young man lose heart and he started making mistakes. One of them resulted in a loss of a major fight and the prince dying. After that, the defeat was certain. The smaller factions were being obliterated, other heirs butchered, territories occupied one by one. Arian saw no other option but to flee in hopes of returning one day to settle the score. Together with the remaining officers loyal to him, he left his home island and went their separate ways, the remainder of their army disbanded and attempted to merge with the civilian population or left just like them. T'ath crowned himself a King.
